Last night we joined some friends for a coctail on a patio who were telling us about how they were planning on buying vintage luxury watches as a wedding gift to each other. The website they were considering buying their watches from is called Parkers Jewellers based in the UK. Pretty soon we were on our phones looking at images of luxury watches and discussing the finer points of owning one.
We talked about the obsessive little details and design that go into every watch, right down to the vintage leather strap. And we were impressed by the types of watches still available at a decent price. Watches from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s are still out there and in beautiful condition and for a fraction of the cost of buying new. We were admiring watches made in England, France, vintage luxury watches are now discontinued and rare, and before we knew it is was dark outside. It’s an interesting topic.
We thought the idea of buying each other a vintage watch as a wedding gift is a great idea. Antique watches hold their value and if looked after, they appreciate over time. Buying a gift for your spouse on your wedding day isn’t always easy. Why not buy something vintage for each other? Classy thought.
